The bells are now back in action
Come and see if you think that they are easier to ring!
The church of St Mary the Virgin, Ringmer, has a 14cwt
ring of
eight bells - with a very short draft! At present there are
nineteen
ringers (if we are all there), augmented on practice nights by
occasional visitors from
neighbouring towers.
Practice night is Wednesday from 7.30 to 9.00. If you
want to
make us aware of your presence, you will find a white ball hanging
outside the west door. Joggle it to ring a bell in the ringing room.
We virtually always ring for Sunday services from 9.00
to 9.40
am. Before Evensong we try to ring quarter peals on the first and third
Sundays of the month; on other Sundays we ring from 5.45 to 6.25 pm.
Visitors are always welcome to service ringing except on quarter-peal
evenings. Phone (01273 813189) to make sure.
